Be Inspired | Gabriela Falcon
You know you are living your best life when the love of your life helps you find a new love for life. For Gabriela Falcon that was certainly the case. Her partner inspired her to find a path to fitness and now she is doing a little inspiring of her own. She probably never expected for fitness to have this big of an impact on her life, but in fact it has turned things around a complete 180 for her!
Gabriela found a love for fitness through being inspired by the lifestyle of her boyfriend. “ We started dating in 2010 and he is HUGE into fitness. Not the social media fitness, just how he truly is, everyday, without documenting it fitness because he’s an ATP Tennis Coach. He’s always eaten super clean and healthy and when we first started dating, I used to think something was wrong with him because he lived in the gym. Naturally, it rubbed off on me, and once I started feeling as great as I did after every workout, and even greater eating real, wholesome foods, I became addicted and now I’m the one teaching him,” Gabriela exclaims!
One thing about it, Gabriela really enjoys being able to help and inspire others. It was a little difficult for her to get use to all of the attention that comes along with social media fitness fame. Social media has been one of her main platforms and of course that comes along with alot of shared opinions which can be a bit nerve wracking. “Getting comfortable on the camera and really trying not to think or care about what other people had to say was my biggest obstacle. I have NEVER been comfortable being the center of attention in any capacity. Meaning, my own workout videos, me talking on instagram, me posting pictures of myself.. essentially my business. Anyone who knows me can tell you how anxious and uncomfortable all that makes me. I overcame it with a lot of yoga, listening to podcasts and really taking the time to change my mindset in order to be comfortable in my own skin,” Gabriela says.
Even though she had to push through a few obstacles, overall she has taken away so much through her experience. The journey overall has been rewarding but most importantly she has gained the ability to inspire others! “Hands down, the most rewarding part of my journey has been the feeling I get in helping other women. I help overweight women lose weight and gain their lives back! Gain self love and confidence and WORTH back. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, to love themselves and love what’s staring back in the mirror at them, and I get to help women achieve those goals every day which makes me feel so very happy. I never thought I would start on a journey that would lead me to my true passion — but now, i can’t imagine doing anything else because of how this line of work makes me feel,” Gabriela shares.
What advice would you give to a young person today who wanted to ditch a sedentary lifestyle and become more fit and healthy?
DO IT! The sooner you start, the happier you’ll be in the long haul. Focus on falling in love with the feeling you get after working out and eating clean instead of doing it for the way it makes you look. You have to work on yourself before you can help others, so start inspiring yourself now, and watch how others follow in your footsteps.
Where should they focus most of their energy to get the most bang for their proverbial buck?
FOOD (learn as much as you can about nutrition). No matter how much you workout, you can never out-train a poor diet.
Think about the 80/20 rule: If you get 80% of your impact from 20% of what you do, what is that 20% for someone just starting?
Small healthy colorful meals… a lot of fish, vegetables, low GI fruits, sprouted grains, green smoothies, etc. In terms of workouts: Start by finding an activity, any activity, that you enjoy. Maybe it’s a dance class, maybe it’s taking walks while listening to your favorite podcast. Start with something that brings you joy, and build on that.
Why do you think a person’s mindset is so integral to their success?
Well, our mindset creates our entire perception of attainable opportunities. The reality you perceive always dictates the end result.… so if you want to be successful, you need to have a positive, grateful, happy mindset.
