Looking to get motivated and take on a new healthy lifestyle. Well the best thing is just to do it! Easier said than done right. We all are in need of a little push from time to time and that’s where people like Daniel Buckley come in handy.
As a trainer, Daniel helps inspire others to get fit everyday. So it’s no surprise that he definitely had some handy tips to share with us today. Check out the advice he shared on what it takes to get on the path to health and fitness.
- Start slow. Don’t think you have to have an all-or-nothing mentality. Doing something is better than nothing. Find something you like and stick with it. If you hate running, don’t run. If you love it, do it. Fitness shouldn’t be a chore in your life, it should be a part of your life.
- Mental strength directly affects your physical strength. If you go to the gym and your mind is not on your workout, you won’t get a good workout. You should walk into your workout and be ready to focus on your exercises / zone out everything else until you’re done. Turn your phone on Airplane mode, put your headphones in, review your workout and kill it! I promise the world won’t end in the next 30 min to an hour.
- Sleep. Although sleep is closer to 30% of your day, it seriously impacts so much. You need adequate rest in order for your body to properly recovery. My clients that get the best results are consistent with getting 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Recovery is so important!
- Have a clear concise goal and make a plan to execute. If your goal is to pack on as much muscle as possible… start lifting weights. Don’t be intimidated by the weight room; everyone had to start somewhere. Focus on form over ego always. The results will come, but it’s a journey… they won’t be fast.
